Another long time passed and another great looking game has been released. After many long years, we now have Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. Now we can let the Zerg begin!

I have changed the site style to reflect the new game and have moved the forums to an external set. They are in the process of being put together but feel free to register and post away. Once they are finished I will move the articles into the proper locations.

New forums PDF Print E-mail

As previously mentioned, I am heavily considering offering up free clan/guild forums through CSSGaming. I have already started the work on building up a demo site to show the basic forum styles but I can go just about any forum style designed for the forum back end. At this moment in time, I am looking at phpBB3. It is the most current version of a very popular and versitile forum system. If you have never used phpBB, it allows for user ranks, groups, private areas, stickies, avatars and just about anything else one could want in an easy to use system that can be set up with the basic and ready to populate with categories and boards in as little as 10 minutes. Mind you, that speed provides nothing but the default styles and logos but is ready to use that fast if your domain is ready to go. Here is list of what I am considering requiring from people wanting to set up a board through my domain.

  • It will be a sub-domain of cssgaming.org
  • A request must be made in email form to admin [at] cssgaming [dot] org.
  • The request must include a real name, valid email address, and agreement to the terms that will be provided at a later time.
  • You will be required to locate the style you want through my demo site (being built) or locate one one the internet and provide me a link to where I can download a publically available style.
  • Any image or logo design will be provided by the requestor and emailed to me. It must also remain in the same size as used on the style's default logo.
  • After the request is made and approved, the sub-domain and basic forum structure will be in place and ready to be used in 48 - 72 hours. Logo changes may take an additional 24 hours from time of receipt.

I may have other restrictions and the times may not be dead on. I will try to have them completed in under 24 hours but my work and personal life will always come first. That is not an option that can be swayed to your benefit. We all have bosses and I have 2. My work boss and my wife. I can not win a battle against either and if they say do this, the forum will come after.

For this service, I am not looking at any form of cost to the users. I will place a couple buttons in the footer of the forum. The first will link back to the CSSGaming main site and the other will link back to my hosting provider where people are free to make donations if they so choose. These are not mandatory in any way as I get a shit ton of service for very little cost. And if a donation is made, have no worries. The money donated will go towards my monthly hosting bill automatically.

As a side note, I also have a CSSGaming Vent server. At the current time, it is privately used between about 6 people and set for a 10 user limits. Depending on public response, I may consider increasing the user limtations. My choicces are incremental between 10 and 400 users. The possibilty of this happen is slim right now but I do not want to rule it out. it is just another thing I am looking into for the gaming community.

I have added a new section and a few more boards to the forums. If you want to see anything special put in place (read as a certain game), post in the site boards under suggestions. I will do what I can to get it up as soon as possible.

Ads on CSSGaming PDF Print E-mail

In the past, I have always said I would take advertsing on CSSGaming or it's affiliate web sites. In recent times, that policy has changed to some extent. I am now allowing ads for CCSGaming used companies where the ads will directly help cover the cost associated with running the site. At this time, I only have 2 ads running. The first would be for our hosting service, DreamHost. The right side ad for them is a basic click to sign up type of thing. The small button for DreamHost at the bottom of the page is a direct donation button. Sadly, this direct donation system has a minimum of $0.50 US. The GameSpeak buttong are both a basic click to sign up links. None of these will result in any contribution to CSSGaming.org.

In any event, I do not expect a single visitor to click these buttons. If you do so, it is of your own accord. Also, I want to make sure that all readers understand. I do not get any type of payment for the amount of clicks I receive so there is no need to hammer either company. If you do click through and sign up for either service, thank you in advance.

At the time of this writing, there were 27 guests online at the CSSGaming web site. I know for a fact that these were, more likely then not, spammers. If any person attempts to post spam messages on this web site or forums, I will personally see to that your IP is banned. Ok. Not you IP. Your whole IP block. This will include every possible level of IP address for the carrier that you use. After that, I block the next level up on the address. This will continue until I block every IP address for the top level that is filtering down to the level that you are on. And then if all else fails. I will block every frakin IP for your country. Visit this site and contribute, fine. Visit this site and stuff your bullshit spam down the throats of all involved here, no way. Enjoy your bans folks.
