As previously mentioned, I am heavily considering offering up free clan/guild forums through CSSGaming. I have already started the work on building up a demo site to show the basic forum styles but I can go just about any forum style designed for the forum back end. At this moment in time, I am looking at phpBB3. It is the most current version of a very popular and versitile forum system. If you have never used phpBB, it allows for user ranks, groups, private areas, stickies, avatars and just about anything else one could want in an easy to use system that can be set up with the basic and ready to populate with categories and boards in as little as 10 minutes. Mind you, that speed provides nothing but the default styles and logos but is ready to use that fast if your domain is ready to go. Here is list of what I am considering requiring from people wanting to set up a board through my domain.
I may have other restrictions and the times may not be dead on. I will try to have them completed in under 24 hours but my work and personal life will always come first. That is not an option that can be swayed to your benefit. We all have bosses and I have 2. My work boss and my wife. I can not win a battle against either and if they say do this, the forum will come after. For this service, I am not looking at any form of cost to the users. I will place a couple buttons in the footer of the forum. The first will link back to the CSSGaming main site and the other will link back to my hosting provider where people are free to make donations if they so choose. These are not mandatory in any way as I get a shit ton of service for very little cost. And if a donation is made, have no worries. The money donated will go towards my monthly hosting bill automatically. As a side note, I also have a CSSGaming Vent server. At the current time, it is privately used between about 6 people and set for a 10 user limits. Depending on public response, I may consider increasing the user limtations. My choicces are incremental between 10 and 400 users. The possibilty of this happen is slim right now but I do not want to rule it out. it is just another thing I am looking into for the gaming community. |
